ZGEL-MAKER

DESCRIPTION: ZGel-Maker is a natural modified starch from corn (Zea May) with amazing rheology effects in cosmetics. It offers an excellent viscosity build with a matt finish – ideal for oily skin and reducing the oiliness of formulations. ZGel-Maker makes luxurious-looking crème-gels, helps stabilize emulsions, thickens surfactant systems, and is both hot and cold processable. In hair care it offers strong-hold gels with film-forming properties for style retention.
ZGel-Maker shows excellent stability against heat, acid, shear, freezing, and thawing. It is an ideal natural choice for emulsion products that require improved physical stability and rheology aesthetics. ZGel-Maker produces creamy-looking and feeling emulsions. It remains stable in the presence of high electrolyte levels.
BENEFITS
• Natural/biobased
• For all-natural creams
• Corn allergies should be considered
• Heat-processable for zero lumping. (see technical guide)
• Excellent stability against heat, acid, shear, freezing, and thawing
• Non-ionic (Can be used with cationic conditioning agents as well as anionics.
• Improves emulsion stability
• Rich-matt skin feel. Non-sticky
• Zero soaping effect in emulsions
• Reduces greasiness feel in emulsions
• Produces richer, creamier, and more substantiative emulsions
• Salt and high electrolyte tolerance
• High shear-thinning with rapid viscosity recovery
• Curl-definition and anti-frizz properties
• Non-GMO
• Readily biodegradable
• Vegan
APPLICATIONS: Cream gels, conditioners, cream rinses, hair gels, creams, lotions, shampoos, facewash, etc for both skin and hair care.
INCI: Zea May Starch (modified)
Solubility: Water dispersible (See Technical guide below for mixing information)
Use rate: 1.0 – 10.0 (1.0 – 3.0 in creams. >3 produces significant viscosity effects 3.0 – 6.0 in shampoos)
pH Stability: 4.0 – 7.0
Temperature Tolerance: Avoid temperatures above 80°C
Appearance: Fine, white to a yellowish, free-flowing powder
Storage: Store in a cool, dark, and dry place
TECHNICAL ADVICE
ZGel-Maker can be added directly to water without the risk of lumping. It will look milky when mixed but will not gel until heated or neutralized. Without heating, ZGel-Maker will sediment
Hot Process: Add Z-Gel Maker powder into your cold-water phase (it will not swell unless heated). Heat to 60°C for a few minutes with constant stirring. ZGel-Maker produces a vicious and stable opaque gel.
ZGel-Maker can also be added to the oil phase and mixed as you would general heat-process emulsions.
