Tetrasodium EDTA

DESCRIPTION: Tetrasodium EDTA is a synthetic chelant used to bind metal ion in a formula and keep them from interfering with the other actives (such as preservative) or causing speedy deterioration of the formula. This is especially needed if you are not formulating with deionized water or have metal ions present in the formula.
In the absence of distilled water, bottles water or other purified water can be boiled first then Disodium EDTA can be added at the rate of 0.1 – 0.2%
Difference between Tetrasodium EDTA and Disodium EDTA
Disodium is more versatile to general skincare products since it is best for pH systems between 3.5 – 9.0. While Tetrasodium is best for formulations whose pH is alkaline; between 8.0 – 12.0 (such as liquid soaps, etc)
