Alpha Hydroxy Acid VS Fruit Enzymes
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) has been the skin care phenomenon of early 90s. They can be very effective in skin regeneration… However, with frequent usage, the effectiveness levels off. The skin adapts to treatments with accommodation response. That’s why after initial usage, tingling sensations decrease and disappear and your skin becomes more tolerant and less responsive to AHA’s.
Enzymes. AHA’s and enzymes perform different functions to achieve exfoliation. Their main purpose is the same: to remove dead cells on the skin’s outer layer. AHA’s loosen the top layer of dead cells, primarily composed of keratin (a protein), while proteolyitc enzymes dissolve this keratinized layer.
Proteo-Bio Multi-Enzyme is a mixture of two main sources of proteolytic (protein dissolving) plant enzymes ; Papaya and Pineapple. Papain is a highly potent plant enzyme isolated from papaya when the fruit is unripe & green. Bromelain is the other proteolytic enzyme obtained from the pineapple plant. Proteolytic enzymes, including in the area of skin care and hair care products.
Using fruit enzymes is not a new practice; The benefits of enzymes have been known and practiced in Aryuvedic medicine as well as folk medicines for centuries. Enzymes in fruit are attributed with having functional properties for cosmetics. Papain in papaya in addition with Bromelain in Pineaapple is attributed with soothing skin irritations and inflammations, break down proteins that cause build up, exfoliate dead cells improve the skin texture and leaves the skin with a luminous glow! It is also capable of retaining proteolytic activity over a wide pH range.
