DL -Mandellic Acid

DL -Mandelic Acid is an aromatic Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) made from the extract of bitter almonds. It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and polar organic solvents.
Benefits
1. Wrinkles and fine lines appear to improve, with mandelic acid preparations. Skin texture improves quickly within days or weeks in characteristic AHA therapeutic fashion. A notable difference between glycolic acid and mandelic acid products is the lack of skin irritation and erythema that often accompanies skin treatments with glycolic acid in 30% to 70% preparations used for peeling.
2. Abnormal pigmentation, including melasma, postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, and lentigines, improved quickly when treated with mandelic acid. In many individuals, melasma improved up to 50% after 1 month of treatment using 10% mandelic acid preparations.
3. Mandelic Acid’s antibacterial properties allow it to serve as an effective acne treatment agent.Acne improvement is remarkable in many treated with inflammatory pustular, comedonal, and papular acne. Mandelic acid has been found to be especially useful in treating adult female suffering from both photo aging and acne.
4. Mandelic Acid has larger molecules than most of its AHA counterparts; therefore, it is less irritating to the skin, but can still deliver the same anti-aging benefits that AHAs traditionally provide: accelerated cellular turnover rate, the ridding of dead skin cells, and increased collagen production. Mandelic Acid’s antibacterial properties allow to serve as an effective acne treatment as well.
