Ceramide Complex

DEFINITION: Ceramide Complex is a multifunctional nourishing ingredient used in both skin and hair care. It contains a mixture of ceramides in an amphiphilic-liposomal base. Ceramides exist naturally in the skin but can be depleted for a number of reasons. Depletion of ceramides leads to several skin conditions such as dry skin, and issues that erupt from a compromised barrier – such as acne. Ceramides are an important part of the skin’s barrier function; helping to retain moisture, maintain the structural integrity of the stratum corneum, antioxidant and sun-protecting attributes, anti-inflammatory, anti-acne, anti-stretchmark, healing, anti-ageing, smoothening, repairing, and skin strengthening. It is particularly suitable for long-term skin barrier protection and support of sensitive and dry skin’s recovery. The liposomal nature of the Ceramide Complex makes it easier and faster to penetrate the skin; The phospholipid nature is similar to the skin’s intercellular lipids. Miscible with water. It is used in aqueous and emulsified skin care preparations.
